It should be your absolute last resort, my aunt had to have a thrombosed hemorrhoid drained and she suffered with recovery for the first 3 months and only properly cleared up after the 6th.

You should try a natural cure but there are a lot on the market that may not work, try the recommended ones here:

surgery has become increasingly specialized, primarily by organ system, so that surgical diseases of the kidney, bladder, and other components of the urinary tract are treated by surgeons called urologists

It doesn't hurt unless it is enflamed which is rare (most recently with Master Cleanse) I have never had a colonic or done an enema for this reason. Any advice on how to proceed with it? I mentioned it to my OBGYN but she was uninterested. I'd apprciate any feedback.

Hi Donna,

Before you consider surgery, you should try tweaking your diet. You really want to ensure that you are getting enough fiber and water in your diet (this will help prevent constipation). Remember, excessive straining during a bowel movement is the number one cause of hemorrhoids.

Hope this helps!

Just poke around long enough on forums like this and you'll read about people who have opted to have surgery. Some of the stories I've read give me a shiver!!!! I must admit that I came really close to scheduling surgery once or twice. Luckily , after trying several different products, I was able to find an herbal remedy that completely ended the pain and bleeding. Thank God since I do not want to go through the pain that some who have had surgery went through. The really bad thing was that a couple of them got new hemorrhoids after the surgery. I would say only as a last resort if you and your doctor had tried EVERY other option.
